In early 2008 if you were in a trendy club or bar in any city in North America from Toronto to San Diego, you would probably see dozens of people wearing hardy t shirts. As far as I remember the summer of 2008, the brand was on fire with t-shirts, tunics and Ed Hardy women bikinis which keeping the brand in the club audience in mind as a must have item. Based on my own observations, I assume that the mark has lost favor among young hipsters and yet I can not speculate at the cash I had the trend information to me.
According to a preview of Google searches for the keyword Ed Hardy peaked in 2008 with a ratio of 100 and fell as low as 31 in 2010. Based on these statistics, we can say that the mark is 30% as popular as it was at its peak in 2008. Since Google is used as the main search engine of choice in most countries around the world, we can assume that these statistics quite a precise measure of interest in the mark.
However, the question remains, what happened to this once very popular brand? Why did ed hardy held so far and fall so fast like a shooting star. In my opinion the reasons that Ed Hardy has been so quick to fishtail as the source of attention in the fashion world are numerous.
First, the ed-hardy crowd that appeal to revelers who is fickle and trend-seekers, is known to consume DCP. If Britney and Justin wore the portrait they'll wear for a week then move to the next thing that is in the spotlight. In addition, there is nothing really special about Ed Hardy, in my opinion. They have been selling t-shirts printed cotton that literally cost 5 dollars to China or less exuberant prices of over $ 100 retail. This is not sustainable. There were thousands of models based on tattoos and not much of a collection noticeable. Another thing working against the mark in my humble opinion, is that once you've seen an Ed Hardy you've seen them all. We get it, Ed Hardy is so cool, clothing that looks like a tattoo. Unfortunately, like many fashion trends with their origins in a subculture of some who fall within the general public, once everyone and their sister wearing a chic factor is passed at which time the subculture who gave birth to the trend has moved away from this craze.
Another reason for the painful loss of the mark, in my opinion is the mark simply gone too far in the marketing of their brand and trying to squeeze every penny on the name. Ultimately, they had poisoned the brand. For example, Ed Hardy started as a watermark and was relatively unknown in the traditional context. Then he created some of fashion items such as t-shirts mostly. When there were t-shirts, then there were bikinis, lingerie, jeans, pants, sweat suits, caps, socks, etc. Then later, there was an alarming amount of consumer products such as Ed Hardy fragrances , stickers, etc. What company makes a collection tattoos have become the Wal-Mart's fashion sector tattoo? The answer is simple: they do not. Thus, the crash and burn Ed Hardy after 2008.
Overall, this brand was a brand that has risen to high speed and crash down on earth is not surprising. In my opinion it is the perfect example of a pure fad fashion, like yo-yos were a fad among youth in the 1990s. For Ed Hardy sale clearance here.
