I hope it is. I'd rather they delay and release a better version of the OS with significantly more granularity for modifications, features, and so on, than what is essentially a .1 release with a few new "features". But, as others have said, this is purely speculation. Remember the rumours that the iPad 2 was delayed? Exactly. Just **** made up to manipulate the stock price.

I can't see the Cinema Displays having built in iSight. I mean sure, it's useful - but what about people who work in environments where you can't have cameras (i.e. some pros) what about people who have dual monitors etc...I can't see it being feasible.
If you 'can't have cameras' dont use them. It doesnt matter if they are built in. And for people with dual monitors they will have... er... oh yeh two cameras :D

I could see iAd playing a role in this decision. Apple
pays for it through ads. Makes sense.
It makes absolutely no sense.
Steve Jobs said iAd was a way to have Free or low cost apps on the app store and still get the developer a little compensation.
How does that translate into a closed cloud service like Mobileme? Apple isn't trying to be Cupertino Google here.

I'm fine leaving my phone un-jal broken. But I think Toyota and other companies should cater to the jail broken community too. Its understandable that Apple would ask. But hopefully it doesn't go beyond asking.
Hmmm, a car company catering to a group largely comprised of teenagers and young adults whom (presumably) have little disposable income? Doesn't sound like the best idea to me personally, but what do I know...

What's stopping Apple from putting 6, 8 of these little bastards on the motherboard? This way they can make up for any speed advantage Intel has right now.

I guarantee America has all the technology required to make components for a phone battery.
And yes, I'd pay more for EVERYTHING I buy if I knew that an American was making it here in America. That means more people working fair-wage jobs, paying taxes, and contributing to the economy by spending THEIR money in the economy as well.
Problem is, as I said before, Apple sells worldwide. And most of the world couldn't possibly care less if a product is made in the USA or in Japan. We want it to be as good as it is now, at the best price. America can't do that, can it? Prince increase = sales decrease.

+1. My IP is being logged right now most likely. No matter where you go, using any communication device, you can be tracked. If you're that paranoid, get off the grid. Every phone company tracks your location. This for iPhone users is just a log of it on your phone.
I do agree, however, that the consolidated.db file should at least be encrypted if it is to remain on the device. Now any good crook knows all they need is your iphone to find out when best to rob you.
Exactly. I don't know why everybody is all fired up about this. If you aren't a criminal, you have nothing to worry about. If you are, then you are probably bright enough to use a burn phone. :p

Lets see:
Faster CPU = Shorter battery life
iOS5 = Will work on IP4 or IP5
Bigger Camera = So, diminshing return
Better reception = Might be compelling
otherwise...why would I buy an ip5?

I can see apple maybe putting an ARM chip in the macbook so it can run in low power tablet mode, but to complete replace the CPU really makes no sense. However lots that the do seldom makes sense, so who knows. The reason I won't be buying a mac again is simply because they are severly underpowered, gaming really sucks on them compared to what you can get on a PC.

Iphone? I just can't see it... It will kill their ipod sales - it will be like shooting themselves in the foot. The reason is that all phones are now free with a contract - we have difficulty in having any value in our phones nowadays.. if you had a free iphone with a contract which had ipod facilities then why would you buy an ipod? It just doesnt make sense.. unless they ONLY sell it sim free. If they do bring one out then i'll certainly buy one, but I am not sure that it is such a good idea... I'd rather they produced a phone/pda hybrid like the xda - I think that this would fit better into their existing product portfolio..
or most people (like me) want to carry around one device that will do everything, I could listen to music but when I need to I'd grab it and make a call. in the future everything is going to come in one product, apple is seeing the future now and jumping in it feet first
just imagine microsoft "here is the zune! it has wifi! hey hey haaaaaaay" enter steve jobs "heres the award winning ipod...oh by the way ring ring ring it's a phone, PDA, carries files, and has bluetooth"
microsoft "well....at least we have vista!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
jobs: "when?"
microsoft "isn't the zune great!"
and how would it kill ipod sales? more than likely it would take the place of something such as the shuffle.
and they are taking away from ipod sales...yeah from themselves thats like saying the macbooks are taking sales away from the macbook pros...does it really matter? all looks the same at the quarterly report $$$$$$
if I had the iphone my way it'd have these features
able to sync to my mac with ical ect
a easy to use interface
ichat
video ichat...this could be a cool idea, the camera isn't to big on the laptops and what not, they could squeeze that into the enclosure and have mobile video chat...it'd be cool....it'd be a wholel new way to have phone sex at least  :D ;)
firm feel
sexy look
and a good keypad I HATE the keypad on the razr and such
I wish they'd release a phone like the iTalk commercial, I don't like the dual flip though, have that as a normal flip phone and you are right on the money about a BA product (badass)

I don't think it would appeal to that many people, to have an Apple MP3 player. I mean, the existing ones aren't great sellers.
See the problem here? The reason the iPod took off was because it wasn't like the existing MP3 players.
Take a look at a group of current products:
1. The UMPC. Seems like a good idea, but not successful so far. Why not? Here's Gartner:[quote]
This and your other comments are spot on.
The perfect device will never be found IMHO.
For work I am looking at the likes of the Cingular 8125. A better keyboard than my Treo 650, and 802.11b support. Add to that basic support for MS Office apps.
For travel I see the Sony UMPC being OK. It could replace my Epson P-2000 perhaps for photo storage on trips. The shame is that cell phone companies have not let us to share a common phone number between devices - with out us being required to use call forwarding.
I for one would love the ability to pick the device that makes sense at the time for cell phone use. At work, something like the 8125. When out and about sight seeing and shopping, some like the Razor. When traveling a small tablet PC.

But the Tablet could be a good start point, before shrinking it to an iPod Video/iPhone Video form factor. Or could we have both? Hopefully.
The only thing that would make the T1 renderings a "killer app" for me is a slide out keyboard.

Maybe the key would be to offer the IPhone for all providers, make it run
a mobile version of OS X with IChat video. I have Sprint and their music store downloads in AAC format. I have wondered if their music store is actually ITunes and they resell it as their own. Does any other carriers download in AAC?

What they need is tier level pricing. Those who wish to only use the features of say Find My iWhatever can choose just that, storage + e-mail, e-mail, etc.

Pretty confident (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11923858&postcount=88) there won't be an iPhone 5 this summer. The CDMA phone was just launched. It really doesn't make sense to stagger the releases (CDMA in winter, GSM in summer); it makes much more sense to unify the devices. We don't want fragmentation, do we? But no way in hell it's going to happen four months after the CDMA launch. This makes as much sense as launching an iPad 3 in the so-called "year of iPad 2".

There is simply not enough room for either a Mobility X1800 or Geforce GO7800 (was GO7700, meant 7800) chip in this 1" thick notebook. Stay in fairyland . . . why can't people be a bit realistic?
Because being realistic isn't fun. I'd love to have the option of a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX, but I know it isn't going to happen. It's still fun to throw out there for giggles.
I'm going to go hang out in fairyland for awhile. Please stay in the real world, thanks.:p

Ridiculous. Nothing is at all similar, aside from the bezel. But then if that's an "infringement" then all those digital picture frame makers can sue Apple for copying their "user interface". Honeycomb itself, the actual aspect ratio, none of that is similar. Get a grip Apple.
Have you looked at the TouchWiz UI? It's almost identical to iOS - dock at the bottom, pages of icons in a grid and you even remove applications in the same way as you do on the iPhone. I've nothing at all against competition for iOS, but they shouldn't just rip the design off

I was excited about this at first but... this just seems like an incredibly stupid fad. Instead of spending time to put the music on my PMP, I sync to the digital cloud, then stream the music to said player. Yeah, in an era where unlimited data is becoming more not less scarce, that's just what I need, data surcharges. This just appears to be yet another fad intending to push consumer technology in the wrong direction.
